Fun Headshots!

Eagranie is so talented. She is a technical & business writer who has one of the best gigs ever....EVER! She gets to talk about ... delicious FOOD !!

Eagranie is the creator and the voice of The Well Tempered Chocolatier ( http://www.thewelltemperedchocolatier.com ) a blog which won the best food blog by "Best of 604" this past December. She is also a writer for Foodists (http://www.foodists.ca )

Looking at her sites makes me hungry and it'll make you hungry so check it out! Anyway, back in January we caught up and took some fun headshots that she can use for her upcoming projects. The weather that day cooperated with us and Eagranie rocked the photo session!

Randomness: Fireworks Saved!

I'm watching late night news and just heard that the fireworks in Vancouver has been saved! Yay! So what will it be called now? Remember when it was called Benson & Hedges Symphony of Fire?? Then it went to HSBC Celebration of something....lights?

How I love the fireworks...during the year I lived in Japan I went to 6 fireworks because Japanese people are crazy about watching fireworks. That and their cherry blossoms:) Their fireworks would go on for up to 3 hours straight though which got a little too intense for me.

Here's a one minute little photostory/ slideshow that I did to the soundtrack from the Lion King. The photos are from the 2007 fireworks in Vancouver at English Bay. Enjoy!

March in Vancouver means...

SNOW!!!!

I think all of us Vancouverites and Lower Mainlandrites weren't expecting a healthy dose of snow in March! Just last week I was contemplating whether to switch my winter coat for my spring coat but it's been confirmed that we all need our winter coats for at least until April!

Spring is coming (albeit slowly) and spring in Vancouver is just about the prettiest thing. We are so blessed to have the mountains, the water and CHERRY BLOSSOMS!

My parents are huge cherry blossom fans and last year their goal was to go and take photos of every type of cherry blossoms in Vancouver. This must be a Japanese thing as "Hanami" parties or "cherry blossom viewing" parties are a part of the Japanese culture as Hallowe'en is to the North American culture. Plus, it's just another excuse for Japanese people to party and get drunk I think.

So this year, I put my parents on a mission to track when and where the cherry blossoms bloom to scout out the best places to take family & engagement portraitures.

If you're interested in having a family or engagement portraiture session with the cherry blossoms in the backdrop drop me a line at mikaphotography@gmail.com!
